Former Head of the Department of Professional Legal Education and Chairman of the Faculty Board, The University of Hong Kong

Professor Michael Wilkinson was born in Manchester, England and was educated at Cambridge, where he obtained his law degree and masters degree. He was admitted as a barrister of the Inner Temple in 1968. He joined the University of Hong Kong in 1982 as Senior Lecturer and was promoted to Professor in 1997. Having reached the age of 70 he is now an Adjunct Professor at HKU. He was Associate Dean of the Faculty of Law from 1990 to 1991 and Head of the Department of Professional Legal Education from 1991-1993 and 1996-2005. He served as Chairman of the Board of the Law Faculty from 2005-2015. He is the University’s Public Orator. He has written numerous books on Conveyancing, Civil Procedure (he is the writer of Halsbury’s Civil Procedure), Advocacy and Professional Conduct.
